The Wine Walkers from L-R: Philip, Chanelle, Charles, Denise, Emily
Back in May this year, a lovely group of people calling themselves The Wine Walkers walked more than 38 miles from Edinburgh to Glasgow to raise funds in aid of the Talbot Butler emergency assessment bay.
They wanted to do this in memory of someone special to them, Stephen Cohen.
It had been one of Stephen’s aims in life to do this walk with his best friend, Charles but sadly he was not able to live out this dream.
So, Charles together with Stephen’s wife Denise, and several others including Emily, Philip and Chanelle decided to walk the walk in his honour while raising money for the Talbot Butler EAB.
Stephen had very kindly donated £1,500 towards the EAB appeal in 2018 and The Wine Walkers have raised a further £2,861 with their sponsorship from this Edinburgh to Glasgow trek this year.
“We trained really well and hard for it, which really helped,” said Denise.
Although they did admit that their training was done on mostly flat ground and so some of those mighty hills on their route north of the border did provide quite the challenge.
The walkers did get to take in some lovely views and scenery along the way though, with a walk down to the river Leith and the canal walk.
It was great to finally meet this lovely group of people when they came in recently to present their donation to Junior Sister, Kat Jackson.
Thank you so much Denise, Emily, Charles, Philip & Chanelle for your support for the EAB, in memory of Stephen.
