Martyn’s family and friends thought the “palliative care was amazing, Patsy and her team always made everyone feel at home whenever he was there”.
Sadly, after 6 years, 2 months and 1 day Martyn passed away on 25th April 2018.
His wife Claire said that, “The last month of Martyn’s life was spent there and I knew he had the best care”.
To say thank you for all that they did for Martyn and his family, they donated £821 to the ward, raised at Martyn’s funeral and wake.
Claire and Martyn had spoken to ward Sister Patsy Hatfield previously and Patsy had said that they would really like to benefit from an ice machine for their patients to either have in a drink or just to suck on.
This can be really beneficial to patients at the end of their life and helps to keep them comfortable, especially when the rooms get hot.
Claire and their family came in to officially present the ice machine to Patsy and the ward and see it in use, knowing that Martyn’s wish had been fulfilled.
There is still £325 left over from the donation after the purchase of the ice machine so Patsy is going to see how the donation can further benefit the patients on the ward.
Thank you to the family and friends of Martyn Harper for your generous donations in helping to benefit the patients being cared for on the palliative care ward at Danetre hospital.
