Northamptonshire homebuilder donates £1,500 for children’s play area appeal

Northamptonshire Health Charity has received a £1,500 donation from local homebuilder, Barratt Homes, to help us continue supporting our local NHS hospitals.

We provide funding for staff development and training, along with funding the very best equipment and improving the general hospital environment via projects large and small.

With a mission to enhance patient care within all departments and wards across local hospitals, we plan to use this donation to help fund a new children’s outside play area for the children’s wards at Northampton General Hospital.

This donation came as part of the Barratt Developments Plc Charitable Foundation, which is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.

Alison McCulloch, Head of Fundraising, said:
We were thrilled when Barratt Homes contacted us to let us know we had been lucky enough to benefit from a donation.

It means a lot to us that the charity has been thought of, and that we have been recognised as a good cause to make the most of the donation.

The revenue received from the government pays for basic services and infrastructure at our hospitals, but if we want the latest cutting-edge equipment and treatments, then fundraising and donations are one of the only ways to achieve this.

We will be putting this donation towards our new outside play area at Northampton General Hospital.

It is really important for a child to be able to play while they are being treated at hospital.

It is reassuring, familiar, and it enables children to express their feelings and anxieties.

Barratt Homes’ Community Fund scheme is a great way to give back to the community, and also goes a long way to highlight what support is needed by charities locally.”

Simon Francis, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Northampton, said:
We are so pleased to be able to support Northamptonshire Health Charity and the important work it is doing.

It is important to us as a leading housebuilder to recognise and support local charities and organisations which help the communities near our developments.”
