London Marathon runner Ellie raises £720 for the Maternity Garden

A huge thank you to Ellie Lenton who has raised a fantastic £720 towards the new maternity garden on Robert Watson ward.

She wanted to give something back to the Maternity unit following the amazing care she received when having her own two children.

Before she became one of the team, Ellie won a ballot place in this year’s London marathon – and so chose to support maternity with her sponsorship.

“I am not a seasoned runner,” she wrote on her JustGiving page, “and I haven’t run a marathon before, this is going to be a huge challenge, but one I’m looking forward to!” It was, and she did!

Ellie did an amazing job with training leading up to the main race and in completing the course in a very respectable time.

She also raised a fantastic £720 towards the Maternity Garden appeal, which is going really well.

We are now over half way to our fundraising target thanks to thoughtful people like Ellie fundraising for us.

She bought her lovely youngest daughter, Beatrice in recently to present the funds to Robert Watson Junior Ward Sister, Janet Hoffman & Candy Baker out in the sunshine.

“We are so grateful to everyone for their support with this,” expressed Janet, “we just want to offer mums somewhere nice to escape to for a bit of fresh air – especially when they may be on the ward for a week or more.”
