On Friday 19 May, Northampton Male Voice Choir (NMVC) hosted a sell-out concert at Christ Church in Northampton with special guests, Nottingham’s Carlton Male Voice Choir in aid of our Daisy Suite Appeal.
The event raised a magnificent £1,500 for the appeal to enhance the facilities at Northampton General Hospital (NGH) for parents who lose a baby.
The Daisy Suite will provide a dedicated, confidential space for the bereavement midwives within the maternity unit at NGH to work from.
It will provide support and much-needed emotional and practical care for families in the months following bad news and the devastating loss of their baby.
After handing over a giant cheque to Charity Fundraiser, Michelle Leighton, Bereavement Midwife, Rachael Moss and Bereavement Support Worker, Jane Reader, NMVC Chairman, Mark York, said:
NMVC is well known for tirelessly supporting good causes.
Our Daisy Suite concert was a huge success with great singing from both choirs and we are enormously proud to have been able to raise this fabulous amount for such a very worthwhile cause.”
Mark went on to thank Maggie Berrow, wife of NMVC chorister, Robert Berrow and an ardent supporter of the choir, for her help in facilitating this fundraising project.
Maggie is Chair of the Northamptonshire Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society (SANDS), a group of volunteers who support and work closely with the hospital’s maternity unit.
We would like to send a huge thank you to all the members of NMVC and their special guests from Nottingham’s Carlton Male Voice Choir; to Maggie for the amazing support in helping the choir to organise the event, and to everyone who attended on the night to raise this fantastic amount for the Daisy Suite Appeal.
