Light Up A Life Event Goes Virtual

Northamptonshire Health Charity and Northampton General Hospital are remembering and honouring loved ones during the festive season again this year with our tree of light.

Lights on the tree, located at the Billing road entrance of the hospital, have been dedicated to loved ones who are no longer with us or as a gift for someone.

This is only the second year we have run this kind of event and we’re pleased that once again, these lights will serve as a tribute to family, friends and patients.

“Following the challenging year we have all had, we knew we would be unable to have the kind of gathering we did for last year’s Light Up A Life event,” said Rob Powell, Community Fundraiser, “But we were determined to do something special to remember and celebrate the life of loved ones.” The feedback we received following last year’s event was really lovely and it meant a lot to us that we could provide something as special as this for people.

It was great to be able to still have the Northampton General Hospital Choir involved this year, in providing us with some Christmas carols for the service as their performance last year was a real highlight for all.

The charity team would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved in putting together our lovely ceremony.

Thanks to Debbie Needham, hospital CEO and to Sheran Oke, Director of Nursing and Midwifery for opening and closing the service; to Revd.

George Sarmezey, Hospital Chaplain for the beautiful readings; to Emma Wimpress, Head of Volunteers Services and Margot Emery, Lead Nurse – Quality Assurance for their reading out of the names for the lights and to the NGH Choir for providing the music.

And of course, a huge thank you to everyone who has dedicated a light to a loved one this year, thank you all for being a part of this special event with us.

Lights can still be purchased from the charity until Monday 21st December.

A light will be dedicated on our tree to your loved one and a message (with a photo if you wish) will be added to the page at the website.

The dedication for a light is £5 each or 3 for £10.
