Helen runs all year for Talbot Butler

Helen Clayton finished her 2019 running challenges with us at the Northampton Half Marathon.

Helen Clayton is a truly remarkable and amazing lady!

Helen’s lovely mum, Rebecca sadly passed away at the end of January 2019.

“During her final few weeks she was looked after and made comfortable by the incredibly passionate, hardworking & caring nurses, doctors and consultants on Talbot Butler ward,” explains Helen.

Earlier this year Helen decided she wanted to give something back to the ward that looked after her mum and so she embarked upon a set of epic running challenges to raise funds to support the Emergency Assessment Bay on Talbot Butler ward at Northampton General Hospital.

Being part of a running group in Jersey called ‘Trail Monkey’, she took part in some events with them.

Races like the half marathon on Jersey’s North Coast in March and the Double Top Ultra Relay in May.

Helen admits that these were warm-up events to get ready for the bigger ones she had coming up over the summer.

It’s been a real inspiration to follow her progress throughout these challenges, both with all the different elements of training and the epic races themselves.

Helen also took on and mastered the Western Hemi Marathon;  the Bath to Bristol; and the New Forest Marathon.

It was also really lovely to welcome Helen to finish her 2019 challenges with us as part of our Northampton Health Charity running team at the Northampton Half Marathon in September.

We’ve sent Helen all the thanks we can muster, and more, as we are so very grateful to her for putting herself through all of these many tough races – raising an incredible £1,076 for the Talbot Butler emergency assessment bay.

Her feet have certainly earned a very long rest after all these!
