Generous donation buys training equipment for Obs & Gynae

Marianna Carpenter very kindly donated £4,000 to the Obs & Gynae department via Northamptonshire Health Charity last year to thank her consultant Mr Alexander-Sefre for the fantastic care that he has given her over the years.

With this very generous donation the department purchased a laproscopic training simulator.

This piece of equipment helps to train junior doctors for operations, including such procedures as stitching up internal wounds.

Consultant Gynaecologist, Mr Alexander-Sefre said, “Simulation is an essential part of surgical training for the junior doctors to improve patient safety.

We are grateful to Mrs Carpenter for her generous and kind donation.” Marianna herself explains, “I made the donation for the purchase of equipment, following my operations and aftercare, in appreciation of the service and dedication of the medical, nursing and hospital staff at Northampton General Hospital.

Also, the interests of the community for current and future generations, making a donation is about making a difference, as our time on earth is limited” Marianna came in to see the new training equipment that her donation has helped to buy.

This laproscopic training simulator will now help to train many junior doctors at Northampton General Hospital.

Thank you so much, Marianna for giving something back to this department at the hospital following your own care.

It is thanks to donations like these that we are able to continue to support Northampton General Hospital with enhancing training available to staff and thus to the care they give to their patients.
