Recent patient, Claire Mann will be forever grateful to the staff on Becket ward at Northampton General Hospital for saving her life after she caught COVID19 in November 2021.
On Saturday 14 November Claire was rushed into NGH as she was so poorly and an X-Ray revealed that she didn’t just have COVID19, but pneumonia and pleurisy too.
She was all on her own, scared and frightened of what lay ahead.
Claire was admitted to Becket ward, and was re-assured by the Doctors that they were going to do everything they could to get her better.
She was allowed no visitors, but the nurses were unbelievably caring, compassionate, kind, thoughtful and often sat with her when she was overwhelmed.
Claire was seriously ill for a few days, but the treatment she was given did pull her through and she was able to go home after 15 days.
She is so grateful for the care she received and wanting to give something back to the staff on the ward, Claire has been fundraising in aid of Northamptonshire Health Charity, towards the Relatives Room on the ward.

Claire says “I am extremely lucky that I got to come home after 15 days fighting everything, I had been put up against.
If it was not for those Doctors and Nurses constant determination to help me, I do not know whether I would be here today!”
Claire has raised a fantastic £465 for Becket so far!
