Winkworth’s fundraising began at the end of last year.
They organised a pub quiz and fish & chip night, which raised an incredible £1,025!!
With a full house on the night and people interested still calling up to enquire, what a fantastic achievement for their first event.
There was also a raffle, and an appearance by local sporting celebrity Courtney Lawes – Saints Captain and England player, who handed over a signed England rugby shirt to one lucky winner.
Sales Manager Ian Simons came in recently to present a cheque to Jan Birditt, Matron for Child Health and Disney Ward Sister, Jan Matthews.
They were able to explain to Ian and Sinead some of the equipment they would like their fundraising to purchase.
With this first donation they are looking at hand-held saturation monitors that will be used specifically for helping get children moved from emergency departments to wards.
This will enhance the care they are able to offer to children coming through their department.
Ian explained how they chose to support the children’s wards because as a local business they want to give something back to the local community.
They are currently planning a number of fundraising events for the year including, ‘throw an estate agent out of a plane’.
With a parachute, of course!
