Our thanks to Jacalyn Moody and Vicki Anderton for coordinating an Usborne Books community book pledge project to secure books for the Play Specialists at the hospital and for all three Short Break Centres in the county.
[caption id="attachment_2614" align="aligncenter" width="768"] Jacalyn and Vicki bought in the books just before Christmas[/caption] It was really nice to meet Jacalyn Moody and Vicki Anderton when they delivered us 4 boxes and a bag of children’s books just before Christmas.
Our thanks to the both of them for organising and coordinating a community book pledge project, which has meant all three of the Children’s Short Break Centres – John Greenwood Shipman, 82 Northampton Road and The Squirrels – have each received £125 worth of special books to use with children while they are in residence.
They also did this for the Play Team we support at Northampton General Hospital so the total amount pledged means we have received £500 worth of books from Usborne Books.
Jacalyn and Vicki secured the support of wonderful local businesses and people who pledged to purchase the books from lists each area compiled.
Play Team Coordinator Sue Faulkner said, “We use a lot of look and find and noisy books in the treatment rooms, so these will be really useful…” A special mention must go to those who supported this pledge project: Phipps Henson McAllister – Chartered Accountants Heely Alden Ltd Emma Joyce Timpson Kingsthorpe Costa Coffee (Kingsthorpe) Andrew Clifford Northamptonshire County Golf Club And to everyone who supported Jacalyn’s project for us through making donations, playing ‘lucky squares’ and even simply but effectively spreading the word.
We are so grateful you thought about the children in the community when coming up with your book pledge project idea.
