At the end of September each year, Phil and Sue Adkins begin construction on their Christmas model village.
"We do a different layout each year," says Phil, "A few new pieces are added even though there's not enough room." The couple build this village every year so that family and friends can visit and enjoy it.
They kindly leave a donation when visiting and children receive some Santa snacks whereas there are mulled wine and mince pies for the adults.
Last year, the COVID19 pandemic meant that even though the couple built the model village no one was able to visit.
Instead, Phil made a video that was sent out to everyone in return for a donation.
The donations made to them each Christmas are used to purchased items for our Christmas Gifts for Patients appeal to benefit elderly patients in hospital on Christmas day.
Phil said, "Although we have had to cut short the visiting this year, we are delighted to have still managed to raise over £200 to enable us to support the Christmas appeal." We would like to send Phil and Sue a huge thank you for supporting our Christmas Gifts appeal yet again this year - and a big thanks to all who kindly made a donation when visiting to see their latest incredible model village masterpiece.
You can read more about the story of the construction of the village at this blog written by Phil.
The continued support from Sue and Phil over the years really means a lot to us and to the staff and patients at Northampton General Hospital.
In addition to these wonderful donations each Christmas, Sue's annual Afternoon Tea Weekend has raised £8,845 for a number of different areas across the hospital.
