The early May Bank Holiday weekend saw many members of the team working on the children’s wards at Northampton General Hospital take on an EPIC virtual walking challenge.
Following inspiration from Northampton College Health & Social Care students Ellie Underwood and Sinead Campion, who raised £380 for the wards from their own fundraising walk, the child health team set themselves the challenge of walking the 301-miles from London Paddington to Disneyland Paris to raise funds for the new outside play area appeal.
By the end of the weekend after adding up all their individual distances the hard-working team had actually walked a whopping 579.7 miles!!
They’ve also raised an incredible £5,276 via their Just Giving page towards the new outside play area that will be developed between Paddington and Disney wards and helped us get to a total of £17,402 so far!!
The staff are so passionate about the new play area to enhance the facilities for the children they look after in hospital.
The developments and enhancements that will be made will provide a range of outside play activities as well as new options for physiotherapy.
Play is so vital in helping children comprehend what is happening to them, which in turn helps them cope with receiving treatment and ultimately with their recovery.
We’d like to send everyone in the child health team who took part in this challenge a huge thank you for helping to raise funds for the appeal and to everyone who sponsored them to keep them going.
Check out all the wonderful photos from the weekend that they kindly sent to us to share.
