2nd annual abseil day raises more than £12,000 for wards & departments across the hospital!
On a bright, sunny day at the end of June, 25 brave people came together to abseil down the 127m (418ft) of Northampton’s iconic National Lift Tower, all in the aid of charity!
Each person taking part committed themselves to raising at least £200 for the department or ward of their choice and everyone excelled at both the abseil and their fundraising.
There was an eclectic mix from the Talbot Butler Ward’s new emergency assessment bay and Rowan Ward to main theatres and endoscopy.
We had the incredible volunteer Brian, who at 82 came down the tower nimbly and at speed, raising over £1,600 for the children’s adolescent area in the children’s wards.
Margaret Morton at age 71 enjoyed the encouraging cheers of her granddaughter helping her get to the bottom and raising money for bladder and prostrate cancer care.
A fabulous team of 10 Paddington Bears raised just over an amazing £4,000 for Paddington Ward.
The day couldn’t have run so smoothly without the help of the Extreme Abseil team, who were beyond helpful and the group of volunteers who came along to serve refreshments all day – a big thanks!
The daredevil team raised over £12,000 between them for NGH.
