Our 4th annual abseil day has raised just over £16,000 for wards & departments across our local NHS hospitals and community services.

Our 4th annual Charity Abseil Day had rain and shine but most importantly, it had 29 brave participants and fabulous fundraisers!
When it comes around each summer the day itself is always very special but after having to cancel last year due to the COVID19 pandemic it was all the more special to meet all of the wonderful supporters who went over the top of the Northampton Lift Tower to raise money for Northamptonshire Health Charity.
We are super excited to be able to share news that all these fabulous people helped to raise just over £16,000 between them all, for many wards and departments across the three local NHS Trusts that we support.
We never doubted our fundraisers would smash their targets but given the circumstances surrounding the ongoing pandemic we never thought we’d beat the £15,000 total that was raised by the fantastic folk back in 2019.
Supporting Rowan Ward at Kettering General Hospital was Caroline Nall, who named it her “Crazy Marvellous 418ft Abseil” raising an astronomical £1,754!
Caroline saw our advertisement in Jigsaw magazine and raised money to give something back to Rowan ward who looked after her so well following the very early arrival of her son, Charlie.
The funds she raised will be used by staff on Rowan to purchase equipment that will enhance the care they are able to provide to mums who need to stay in hospital.

Caroline Nall raised £1,754 for Rowan Ward at KGH
On her Just Giving page, Caroline explained, “I’m not a fan of heights, but I’d do anything for Charlie and it’s only thanks to KGH that he is the loving, funny, amazing little man that he is today, so here goes…..
quite frankly, I’m petrified!” She was absolutely incredible on the day, facing the challenge head on.
And we love the fantastic outfit she wore for the abseil too – it really brightened up the morning!
Supporting The Squirrels short break centre (NHFT), where she works, Lucy Ekins has raised a whopping £710 towards improvements and enhancements for the garden area at the home, which offers respite stays for young people with very complex needs and sometimes life limiting disabilities.
Lucy confessed to being completely petrified about going over the top of the 418ft tower but all the wonderful people sponsoring her helped get her there and meet this really big challenge!
Also raising money for NHFT (Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust) were Alison and Cameron Lindley who supported Hazelwood ward at Isebrook Hospital in Wellingborough.
Between them they raised an incredible £710 towards a therapy bike that will have a huge positive impact on patients recovering from all manner of illnesses, conditions or surgery.
Supporting Oncology and Haematology at Northampton General Hospital, where she works, Sally Miah raised a fantastic £773!
You can see Sally beaming in one of our short videos about how much of an exhilarating experience the abseil was and how she recommends it to anyone.
Rhiannon Mistry, James Robinson, Emily Ball & Rose Dawson from Hawsons Accountants raised a whopping £1,899 by abseiling for the Oncology department; with Christine Grant raising a fabulous £1,038 for Walter Tull ward, on which she works herself!
Maria Lincoln braved the tower once more, this time raising a wonderful £250 for Becket and Collingtree A wards in memory of her lovely Dad.
Stuart and Ella Moss were our final abseilers of the day, supporting the Forget Me Not Bereavement Suite by raising a superb £2,200!
We are so very grateful to each and every one who took part in the event this year and all those who sponsored them meaning we beat the amount raised last time round.
Our abseil day will return in 2022 but if you can’t wait to take on this lofty challenge you can always book your own abseil directly with the Northampton Abseil Centre and raise money for the ward or department closest to your heart.
Thank you all so much!!
