Thanks to the generosity of the former Mayoress of Rushden and the Police, Serenity have been able to revamp their examination rooms.
[caption id="attachment_2836" align="aligncenter" width="980"] Redecorated Forensic examination room[/caption] Thanks to the amazing generosity of the former Mayoress of Rushden and the Police who have donated monies to our Charitable funds, we have redecorated our Forensic examination rooms to make a more friendly, comfortable space for clients of all ages.
In the room, mainly used for children and young people, we now have a large wall mural of a map of the world populated by animal, birds and sea creatures.
Combined with a projector that shows images of farm and jungle animals.
The room is designed to be fun and interesting to keep younger clients amused and distracted.
A ceiling full of colourful bubbles is our choice for our other room.
Its purpose is to provide a calming and relaxing environment for clients to help them through, what for some, will be a stressful, embarrassing and difficult process.
Many people have the preconceived idea that a Forensic examination may be traumatic.
This is never the case.
All examinations at Serenity Centre are undertaken by understanding, experienced staff and Doctors and clients are supported throughout by specially trained Crisis Workers.
The process is explained in detail beforehand and nothing is done without a client’s full consent.
The feedback from clients using the newly decorated rooms has been overwhelmingly positive.
Serenity staff wish to thank all those that donated so generously and they can be assured that your donation and support has gone to enhance the service for the benefit of all victims of sexual violence and abuse.
