Thank you so much to the family of Mark Vickers and to Medigold Health for donating £10,000 for ITU in memory of Mark Vickers.
The loss of a loved one is always a difficult time for family, as it is for colleagues of that person too.
Mark Vickers was Chief Operating Officer at Medigold Health and after Mark sadly passed away following a short but overwhelming illness, at the request of his wife and in his honour, the company set up a crowdfunding page to raise money in aid of ITU at the hospital.
They wanted to raise money for ITU in memory of Mark to thank the department for the dedicated care he received while he was a patient.
Donations came pouring in, together with countless messages of condolence.
There was also a donation of £520 from the cathedral collection held at Mark’s funeral.
As the response was so incredible and it became clear the initial £2,500 target would be exceeded, it was decided to double it to £5,000.
After Medigold Health reached this ambitious target it was matched by the Vickers family, doubling the total!
CEO Alex Goldsmith joined Mark’s wife, Helen and her family when they came in to present their generous £10,000 donation to the staff in ITU on 20th May.
As relatives of the patients being cared for in the unit spend such a lot of time at the hospital, Helen would like this donation in memory of her husband to go towards revitalising the family waiting areas.
The wish is for the creation of an environment that offers peace and comfort to other families going through a similarly distressing time.
