Creating a Dedicated Space for Bereaved Families at Northampton General Hospital

The Daisy Suite Appeal aims to create a private, compassionate space where families can receive emotional and practical support from our Bereavement Midwives in a more suitable, dedicated environment.

Why This Appeal Matters

Currently, families returning for follow-up appointments must revisit the maternity day unit and wards—the same places where they first received heartbreaking news about their baby. This can make an already difficult time even more distressing.

Each year, we support over 100 families through the heartbreak of losing their baby. Having a dedicated space for follow-up care will make such a difference, providing a safe and compassionate environment when families need it most.

With your support, we can create a dedicated bereavement space within NGH that will:

  • Provide privacy away from the main maternity areas
  • Offer a calm, supportive environment for follow-up care
  • Help our Bereavement Midwives deliver compassionate support to grieving families.

Together, we can provide a space where families can grieve and heal in comfort.

Losing a baby is heartbreaking, and families need a private, supportive space to receive care and guidance. The Daisy Suite Appeal will create a dedicated bereavement space at Northampton General Hospital, ensuring families have privacy and compassionate support when they need it most.

Do you have a brilliant idea to help us reach our goal? Here are some ways you can get involved:

  • Take part in a running event like a marathon, half marathon, or tough mudder.
  • Organise a skydive or abseil challenge.
  • Host a coffee morning, cake sale, or community event.
  • Whatever your idea, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
