Five things to do when making your will

  1. Find a solicitor. Any local solicitor can provide advice and ensure your will is valid.
  2. Appoint executors. They’ll be responsible for ensuring your instructions are followed.
  3. Consider how to divide your estate. Your loved ones come first, of course.
  4. Keep your will safe. Don’t forget to let your executor know how to find your will.
  5. Think about inheritance tax. Charitable gifts are usually free of inheritance tax.
