On October 9th 2016 Ben Birch was admitted to NGH with a ruptured A.

A.

A, where he was operated on by Mr Hicks.

Following the emergency operation Ben was cared for in the I.

T.

U department and on Willow ward from 25th October, until he was discharged on 29th October.

The care shown to Ben and all of his family was second to none, so they decided to hold a fundraising event.

Several events contributed towards the final total amount raised.

A family fun day was organised in May by Ben’s eldest daughter Amy, at Parklands Community Centre.

This included a raffle, tombola, craft stalls and even a plant stall where Ben was able to sell some of his beloved fuchsias (which he has been growing for over 30 years)!

During this event, William, Amy’s eldest son had his head shaved, raising an amazing £664.

A further £1,296 was contributed towards the total by Sarah Maloney and Helen Wizard (Amy’s work colleagues) who abseiled down the Express Lift Tower in Northampton.

Through the fantastic support of his family and friends the total raised was £4,727, this also included a generous donation of £600 by D.

L whom Ben was employed by until his illness.

Thank you all so much for raising this money for I.
