Michele came in to present the funds she’s raised to the Intensive Care Unit staff.
On 22 November 2020 Michele Debroize-Branston was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Kettering General Hospital seriously ill with COVID-19 and was in a coma for nearly 4 weeks.
Her hospital stay was a staggering 112 days, being discharged on 13 March 2021 and was the unit’s longest staying patient with COVID-19.
Michele has made amazing progress with her recovery and wanted to give something back to the staff on the Intensive Care Unit, who she owes her life to.
Her first fundraising initiative was to walk 400 steps a day for 7 days, which was a total of 2800 steps.
2800 hours was how long Michele’s stay in KGH was and at the time of the challenge, it was really all she could manage whilst still recovering from COVID.
This activity alone raised £700!
On Friday 4 September, she organised a fundraising party at Wellingborough Rugby Club, for friends and family and some of the ICU staff went along too!
Guests were entertained by Michele’s son’s band, The Upsiders and there was a BBQ and raffle too.
We were delighted to welcome Michele back to KGH last week where she presented a cheque for £2,345 to those ICU staff who had cared for her and her family so well during her stay.
We all wish Michele and her family the best for the future and her continued recovery.
