Professional entertainer Richard C Parker is shortly to be discharged from Lilford Ward at Kettering General Hospital (KGH) after experiencing the very best care and attention from the specialist team there for a second time.
Hopefully he will soon be recovered enough to pick up his musical activities with the friends in the Groups he has recently joined.
Known to the staff at KGH for his previous fundraising activity, and just before his recent need for treatment, Dick had put together a plan to play a Gig for charity at ‘The Cloisters’ retirement complex in Rushden at the invitation of the owners Denise and Rex Smith as part of their Jubilee Celebrations for their residents.
“Dick-C-Parker”, as he likes to appear on stage, was to perform and play drums with local Charity/Party Band “Double-Tonic & Friends”.
This group comprises the Duo, Tony & Dianne plus a changing variety of Friends who join them from time to time.
On this occasion the Friends were two local musicians, James Read and Rob Nicholson.
Dick’s wife Jackie was also part of the act, in charge of Front-Of-House sound control.
All of whom deserve thanks for giving up their time and energy to rehearse and play for a worthy cause.
Although Dick was unable to play this time, the Gig went ahead with great success.
Denise is quoted, “The group delivered just what we wanted for our residents, two sets of great songs with plenty of variety.” DT&F play mainly for charity and any fee they would normally charge goes directly from the event sponsors into the “Bucket” for the chosen charity.
Additionally in this case the residents also made generous cash contributions and the final total raised for Lilford Ward was £450.00.
We would like to send a special thank you to everyone involved who helped raise this money for Lilford.
It was so lovely that staff actually bought Dick down on the day so he could be in the photo with everyone too.
