Thank you to Marjorie Wood for choosing to support us again this year with the coffee morning fundraiser.
We are grateful to have received a wonderful £517 in aid of Oncology.
Support from people and groups in our local community really means the world to us.
Following her support for the Stroke Unit last year, Marjorie Wood contacted us again asking if she could fundraise for the oncology department with money raised from her coffee morning this year.
Marjorie holds this event every year, donating the money raised to a different charity each time.
61 people attended the morning at her home to enjoy coffee, cake and snacks – as well as take part in the 'Bring and Buy' and raffle that were held.
It is such a great sense of community that brings people together for a natter as well as refreshments, while raising money for really worthy causes.
Rob from the charity team went along to meet Marjorie and five members of the local group, pictured above with Marjorie (centre).
“It was a real pleasure to be able to meet everyone, thank them in person and to hear more about the wonderful things this lovely group organise for their local community throughout the year”.
Marjorie explained how the coffee morning is a group effort with friends all pitching in to help.
Clearly, this true community spirit is what makes the event so popular and successful!
We are so grateful to have received this £517 raised in aid of the oncology department.
Marjorie chose to support oncology this year because a number of friends and neighbours have had experiences with cancer, needing to use the department’s services a lot.
This money will be used by staff for above and beyond initiatives that enhance the care available to cancer patients.
Thank you so much Marjorie, and to everyone involved in raising a total of £1,262 for the hospital over the past two years!!
The funds donated to the Stroke unit last year have contributed towards the purchase of adapted cutlery to encourage stroke patients to eat independently, training courses for nurses as well as special stools to aid patients in the shower.
