Sally, a member of the team, had a personal interest in the family room as not only has she worked on Becket as a bank nurse but it is also where her father spent the last week of his life last September.

Sally has been on the receiving end of having the most devastating news in the middle of the night, but she and her family were sat in the doctors’ office.

To have a specially designed room where such news can be broken to relatives, or to just have a break away from the clinical area, she thinks would be really beneficial to families.

The team of 5 registered for the newly launched charity initiative for staff called Challenge500.

The aim is for ward staff to raise a target of £500 over a year and the charity will match £ for £ up to £500!

Becket ward smashed through the ceiling of this target raising a fantastic £1,793 in sponsorship for their Scafell Pike Hike!

"It was an incredible experience...we had," explained Junior Sister, Amanda Garner, "We are proud to have raised so much for such a worthy ward, 'Team Becket'!" As can be seen, they were met with some stunning views while hiking England's highest peak.

Taking part with Sally were Katy, Katrina, Amanda and Katherine [caption id="attachment_3042" align="alignleft" width="425"] Stunning views at Scafell Pike[/caption] The loss of Sally's dad was devastating to her but to know that a positive change can happen after his death and also that she has helped to say thank you to the team is her greatest wish.

“The Becket Ward Scafell Pike girls are very passionate about their ward and about creating a welcoming family room, so to be part of helping them achieve this has been great and very cathartic for me.

They do a fantastic job.

The way in which they looked after my dad and my family is something I will never forget.

You can never underestimate the knowledge, compassion and dedication of a nursing team when you are facing the hardest of times...

they helped us all to get through it”.

The Scafell Pike girls had such drive on that mountain.

Amanda said something beautiful on the way up...

'I guess we all have our own mountain to climb', which is in reference to the mountain they were climbing but also to the personal mountains we all climb in life.

This became the team's mantra for the hike and the thoughts for the design concept of the room.

We all do climb our own personal mountains (and families will be doing so in the relatives room on Becket).

It's just good to know the Becket team will be helping them up.

Well done to everyone, thank you for your hard work and to everybody who has donated.
