From helping people find their way around busy hospital sites to offering a friendly face during difficult moments, their contribution helps create a more positive hospital experience. Dedicated volunteer wheelchairs through our Volunchair project, making it quicker and easier for volunteers to support patients to appointments, reducing waiting times and easing anxiety.
Brew Buddy volunteers provide hot drinks to staff on wards, offering a small but meaningful boost during busy shifts.
Donations have also funded a motorised wheelchair AKA ‘Tony’ to help patients get to their appointments across the hospital with the help of our dedicated volunteers. The idea for ‘Project Tony’ came from Tony, an outpatient who experienced first‑hand the challenges of navigating the hospital.
To celebrate the hard work the volunteers do, we provide funding their annual Christmas parties and thank you events to show our appreciation for all that they do to support patients and the NHS staff who care for them.
Every year, the volunteer services team help us to deliver Christmas presents to patients spending the festive period in hospital.
Volunteer Services at University Hospitals of Northamptonshire has launched a new volunteer-led service that allows families and friends to send personalised messages to patients online – which are then delivered in person on a greeting card by hospital volunteers.
The UHN volunteers team held a bake sale and raffle in the main reception of Kettering General to raise money for Northamptonshire Health Charity, raising over £500.
Staff members and volunteers at NGH gave up their free time for 8 weeks to join with 21 professional dancers from step-by-step dance school to raise money for Northamptonshire Health Charity.

A café offering free drinks to people with cancer has re-opened at Northampton General Hospital (NGH) following refurbishment and improvements, thanks to generous donations to Northamptonshire Health Charity.
Thank you to everyone involved in strictly NGH. From the staff in the volunteer services team who organised the event, the staff who all gave up their free time to train for the event, for everyone who donated money to Northamptonshire Health Charity and to everyone who came on the night.
