Best in Show winner Coco, with Cassie
A big well done to all of the category winners in this year’s University Hospitals of Northamptonshire Virtual Pet Show.
What a plethora of perfect precious pets we were fortunate to have thrust upon us by way of all the adorable and cute photos being entered into this year’s competition.
Congratulations to Best In Show winner Coco and Reserve Best In Show winners Macy and Bonnie – it was lovely to meet them and their families when we accompanied event organiser, Debbie Needham to present them with their rosettes and prizes back in September.
A special thank you to Natural World Pets for donating £30 and £20 of vouchers, to Cynthia Sturdy of Posh Pooches and Paw & Tail Pet Grooming for donating full grooms, and to Michelle at Cottonbuds Florists for donating two beautiful bouquets for the owners.
Also, thanks to all of the category judges as we know it cannot have been an easy task to choose winners from amongst all the adorable pets submitted – almost 1,000 photos!
It must have been even more difficult for the top two winners to be picked and we’d like to thank Dave and Finn aka Fabulous Finn for judging Best In Show and Scott Hendry at Natural World Pets for judging Reserve Best.
Reserve Best In Show winners Macy & Bonnie
During the height of the pandemic while Chief Operating Officer/Deputy CEO at Northampton General, Debbie organised the NGH Online Pet Show which raised £865 and following some Gift Aid that was added this meant Northamptonshire Health Charity received just over £1,000.
These funds went towards the important NGH Our Space area – an important place for staff to take some crucial time out and seek support, where required.
This space is still available today while the new permanent area is under development.
“This is the second year that I have run the virtual pet show and this year it was across both hospitals.
This show provides a real boost for our staff who have pets, and it leads to much talk across the hospitals.
I thoroughly enjoyed working on this year’s show with Jo Fawcus, Danielle Wilkins, and Rob Powell from the charity, and I’m really pleased to say that we have raised £850 for our charities.
I’m looking forward to next year.”

The funds raised from this first University Hospitals of Northamptonshire charity event will support patients and staff across both Kettering General Hospital and Northampton General Hospital.

We would also like to give a special mention to Iain and Marc at Katzenworld in Kettering who gave us a very generous donation of cat-related items for the feline winners.
As it turned out with the lovely Coco and Macy & Bonnie winning the two top spots we have added a Cat – Best Girl and Best Boy award so we can distribute these.
Winners have kindly been chosen by Cassie Ferguson (pictured above with Coco) and Leanne Malyszewicz (Macy & Bonnie).
