In December 2021, four months after her mum, Louise was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer, Georgia Fuller registered for the Robin Hood Half Marathon.
Fast-forward nine or ten months and Georgia not only completed her first half marathon in a record speedy 1 hour 57 minutes, but she also raised over £3,000 for Northamptonshire Health Charity in the process!
Georgia Fuller completed her first half marathon and raised more than £3,000 for the KGH Breast Care Unit
Georgia took on this running challenge to raise money in aid of the Breast Care Unit at Kettering General Hospital as a way of saying thank you to the staff on the unit that have been caring for and supporting her Mum throughout her cancer journey.
Georgia said:
The care she has received has been phenomenal!”
It was lovely to meet Georgia and mum, Louise when they came in a few weeks ago to present the funds raised to the team and were greeted by no less than 15 members of staff from the unit, including Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, Mr Gavin Wilson.
The staff were able to thank Georgia in person and really showed their gratitude for her having raised so much for them.
It was also an opportunity for Louise to be able to have a brief catch up with Mr Wilson and other members of the Breast Care team.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Georgia and to everyone who sponsored her for this half marathon – you helped to raise £2,545 and with the gift aid included the grand total is actually £3,025!
This will make a huge difference to patients receiving treatment and care in the Breast Care Unit at KGH.
