Fabulous furnishings for On Call Rooms at NGH

Thanks to COVID19 funds from NHS Charities Together and supporters in the local community, Northamptonshire Health Charity are really pleased to have been able fund furnishings for all 14 of the on call rooms at Northampton General Hospital.

This means the hospital have been able to provide a more homely environment that will aid better rest and relaxation for those staff working on very long shifts.

These on call rooms are used mainly by clinical staff as a quiet space where they can get some much-needed sleep when working really long hours on call for patients in what is always a very demanding job.

The new modern relaxing nature of the rooms will help facilitate a more calming atmosphere for staff who are required to work away from their own home and families.

A big thank you to the Estates team at NGH who provided the flooring, painted the rooms and funded the essential elements of the upgrade to these important rooms.

Charity funding was used to purchase all the comforting and homely extras that enhance the environment for our hardworking NHS staff and help support their own health and wellbeing.

The enhanced environment will really help staff rest and relax when they need to during these longer shifts enabling them to feel ready and alert when being called on to see patients.

The newly upgraded rooms were officially opened on 7th September by Mark Smith, Chief People Officer for University Hospitals of Northamptonshire and Heidi Smoult, Northampton General Hospital CEO.
