Christmas Appeal 2021

Please help us make a difference this Christmas to all the patients in our care on Christmas Day!

Christmas in hospital is always tough but you can help Northamptonshire Health Charity make a real difference and bring a smile to patients by donating to our Christmas Gifts for Patients appeal, helping to ensure every patient receives a gift on Christmas day.

There are many patients, mostly elderly, that have nobody, which means no visitors and no gift on Christmas day.  You can also help by spreading the word.  Please tell EVERYONE you know and if you have any queries we’d love to hear from you.

If you would prefer to do you shopping online you can always donate something from our Amazon Wish List again this year.  Items purchased and donated from the list are delivered directly to us.

Donating a Gift

If you would like to donate, items that patients love to receive include, toiletries, slippers & bed socks, playing cards & dominoes, lip balm & handkerchiefs, hair brushes & combs, gloves, hats, scarves, biscuits & chocolates, sweets etc.

We can only accept new items in their original packaging.  Food products must be in sealed original packaging and in date.  Gifts can be placed in a gift bag but please do not wrap them up as we need to determine who the presents would be appropriate for.

The latest that we would prefer to accept gifts in by is Friday 17th December as this gives us time to sort through everything and to allocate to the different areas, and deliver them to the wards at different hospitals.

We are now the registered charity for Kettering General Hospital (KGH) so we are aiming to ensure every inpatient at KGH receives a present on Christmas day, in addition to all those in Northampton General Hospital (NGH) and at the community and mental health hospitals across Northamptonshire (Berrywood, Corby, Isebrook & St Mary’s).

Dropping your gifts off

You can drop your donations to us at the charity office. It would be lovely to meet you.

The charity office is based at Springfield, Cliftonville, a short walk out from A&E at the hospital and open Monday-Friday 09:00 to 16:00.

If you are buying gifts online that are not from our Amazon Wish List you can also get them delivered straight to the Charity office at the above address but please do let us know that you have done this as we don’t get any details with the parcels.

Kettering – if you’d like to donate items at our KGH office please call 01536 491569 or email greenheart@nhcf.co.uk to arrange. An update will follow shortly with further details on how to drop items in to us at Kettering.

“…the patient’s on Brampton really enjoyed receiving the gifts at Christmas.  Some were really quite emotional that they were receiving presents from people they didn’t know but that had thought about them being in hospital over Christmas…”

“…they also loved the letters they received from the school children; one gentleman was brought to tears by the kind words whilst reading his letter.”

Jane Drew, Activities Coordinator – Brampton

“…a massive thank you for the kindness my husband received when in hospital on Christmas Day…It was so uplifting to receive the kind gift when feeling low at being in hospital at that time of year.” Wife of a patient

Please pass on our grateful thanks for the lovely gifts for our patients; they certainly helped to make a difficult time for them brighter.”  Shelagh Cowley from Isebrook hospital

“…the patients were delighted with their gifts. One relative commented ‘this is overwhelming’!” Lorna Boswell from Allebone Ward
