What we have funded

Every donation helps us fund practical, thoughtful enhancements that improve experiences for patients, families, and staff across our hospitals and community services. From small comforts to larger projects, here are some examples of what support at different levels can help make possible:

At this level, funding often supports small but meaningful touches that bring comfort, understanding and reassurance, such as:

  • Refreshments for Christmas carol services and patient gatherings
  • Sensory activities for mental health inpatients
  • Peer support meetings for young people with diabetes transitioning to secondary school
  • Radios for patient bays
  • Memorial days for bereaved parents
  • Keepsake teddy bears for children who have lost a parent in critical care
  • Ramadan provisions for staff working unsociable hours
  • Specially designed activity packs to help children understand and cope with a parent’s cancer diagnosis
  • Canvas prints to create calmer, more welcoming ward environments
  • Secure storage and equipment to support inhaler education for patients
  • Hot drinks for patient waiting areas
  • Books that help families talk about cancer in a gentle, supportive way
  • Equipment and enhancements for staff areas such as microwaves, fridges and kettles.

This level supports projects that enhance care, dignity and wellbeing for patients and staff, including:

  • Supporting awareness and training initiatives to promote organ and tissue donation
  • Simulation training equipment to build staff skills and confidence

  • Memory boxes and keepsakes for end of life care and child bereavement
  • Improved child development resources for clinics and home visits
  • Mastectomy pillows and drain bags to support comfort and dignity after surgery

  • Cookbooks designed for people living with cancer and their families
  • Post-operative support bras for people recovering from cancer surgery

  • Activities for mental health and dementia patients to support wellbeing

Spreading the Joy of Christmas to Patients and NHS Staff  

Thanks to the incredible generosity of you, our supporters, we were able to bring comfort and festive cheer to thousands of patients and NHS staff across Northamptonshire this Christmas through our Northamptonshire Elf Service Christmas Appeal.
